Announcement by Fr. Jim Haley, CSP

The Paulist community has been urging me to think about taking a sabbatical. After 45 years of ordained ministry and approaching 72 years of age, I believe it is time to take the Paulists up on their offer. I have given this decision much thought and prayer and the Paulists have approved a six-month sabbatical. As a result I will be leaving as pastor of St. Peter’s this July. I will spend some time with my family in Nova Scotia and in September I will be going to All Hallows College in Dublin, Ireland for a three-month sabbatical program. Following the sabbatical I will enter into retirement. I will miss being the pastor at St. Peters with wonderful parishioners and many friends. However it is an exciting time for me and I look forward to the program in Ireland, which offers many fine opportunities for spiritual and intellectual growth and to touch base with my Irish background. I will also have more opportunity to spend time with my family. My hope is to someday retire here in Toronto, but this can only happen after giving my successor the necessary time to adjust and to establish himself as pastor. I hope to announce the new pastor of St. Peter’s very shortly.

I also want to announce that Fr. Steve Bossi will be taking up a new position as Associate pastor at Santa Susanna the Paulist parish in Rome, Italy. Fr. Steve will be leaving Toronto sometime in September.

Victoria Day - Monday 20, 2012

Please note that the Parish Office/ Paulist Centre will be closed on Monday, May 20th (Victoria Day). Mass that day will be at 10:00 AM in the Paulist Centre Chapel.

Our campaign to repair our Church is progressing. If you have a packet, please return it as soon as you can. To receive a packet, contact the office. Thanks to all who participated in the Campaign.

Outdoor Movies - Help Wanted!

This summer, St. Peter's will again be hosting an outdoor movie series over several Friday evenings during the summer. These events have been great opportunities to not only have some fun over the summer months, but also to increase the visibility of St. Peter's throughout the neighborhood.

More information will be given in the next few weeks. If you are interested in helping the night of these great events, please contact Fr. Tom at tgibbons@paulistfathers.ca.

Welcoming Ministry for 6 pm Mass

For those who are either a part of the Welcoming Ministry at the 6pm Mass or are interested in joining, we will be having a gathering after the 6 pm Mass in the Paulist Centre at 7:15 pm on Sunday, May 26.
